A masterplan for the outdoor lighting at Straume city center. Straume is the municipal headquarter of Fjell Kommune. Its about 15 km west of Bergen in Norway. It has just over 10 000 inhabitants and is located around the Sartor Storsenter shopping mall. Sartor Storsenter is building a town quare, cinema, science center and the biggest underground parking in Norway.
This project is done in collaboration with landscape architect colleagues at Norconsult, architects at Nordic and landscape architetures at GROSS.MAX.

Behind the parking entrance the facade is backlit creating a soft moving lightscene that grabs your attenction and makes you look for a pattern.
Tall light coloums that will blend in with the trees as they reach maturity. This is the main lighting of the square and makes room for many different activities.
The outdoor red ceiling is lit with a continious strip of light at the edge. The strip refects in the window and makes a connected triangle. Its also open above the ceiling letting light out towards the ceiling contruction lighting it up.
Similar solution for another entrance to the building and by the restaurant.
Every stair is lit from the handrail and gives ample light in the steps. This also creates a guidance where to move around.

The roof above allmenningen is lit with small LED strips to light up the coloured glass thats hanging in the ceiling. The colour change down the allyway and covers the whole spectrum. This light and that from the shops is the only lighitng in this area makling the roof and room stand out at nighttime. Some of the glasses are coloured, some are transparent and some are opaque. The sequence of these types makes the light travel at different lengths in each sector.
In the underground parking the lighting is designed to entertain you while you are driving down the ramp and when you are issuing your ticket. The colours change from dark blue to light green and has a dash of orange once a while. Its designed so that you are a little lucky if you get to see the orange spash of colour since its rather rare.
