The stages of the moon are lasered out from the paper so the light could either be coming from the behind, or reflecting off the glass in the front, giving the waning moons an opportunity to be seen in different ways. The light source in the room can transform this bottle and label, and play with the moon as a light source, just as it always looks different in the sky.
