This toothpick holder was a design for a project which explored moulding and casting manufacturing processes through the design and batch manufacture of 5 functional and identical vessels. Along with this we also had to choose a source of design inspiration which was evident within our final vessels which also incorporated a lid and/or handle.

 

My project drew upon design qualities from Scandinavian design from the 1960's through the use of materials and simplicity. Simple but effective usability is achieved through user interaction. The idea of play and user satisfaction is evident through the simple sliding mechanism revealing the contents of the product.
