Enhance is a concept I developed during my Design Princples II class.
It is a set of modular acoustic panels built primarily for spaces such as conference rooms; however, when further developed it will be able to work with a wide variety of surroundings. The basic function of the wooden panels is to diffract the voices in the room, and the fabric on the other side of the panel will allow the absorption of any remaining echoes.
Enhance will improve sound quality in the space, and is built with the intent of making a more comfortable environment for people who are slightly hard of hearing. The panels move up and down, and pivot around their center - this allows the acousitc environment of the room to adapt to any situation.
I presented my working concept in the form of a scale model of a conference room, as seen below:
Acoustinc Panels - Laminated walnut veneer, nylon, 6/32 threaded stainless still rod, stanless steel nut
Other: Plywood, aluminum rod, aluminum sheet, acrylic sheet, cardboard
3' x 1.5' x 1.5'
Given below are pages from the process book I created as this concept progressed.
These models are 3D modelled on Rhino and rendered on Keyshot.
