“The difference between luxury and pure decadence is often perspective, unless, of course, you are the team behind the $4 million, 20,000 – square-foot Vanquish and Reign – side by side lounge and nightclub (1021 and 1029 Peachtree Street) next to Loews Hotel, Midtown. In this case, the two go very much hand- in hand. The spaces are owned by Atlanta nightclub impresario Michael Gidewon (Vision, Compound) and were created by lead architect / interior designer David Daniels of David Daniels Design, who vowed to “transcend” Gidewon’s former club in it’s opulence.” The Atlantan

“Vanquish lounge has the aristocratic vibe of a regal hotel lobby, boasts a VIP section within the VIP section, and a large mural by local graphic artist depicting the visual paradox of a fierce tiger alongside an alluring woman. Underscoring this brand of lavishness is the Vanquish logo, a playful riff on the Louis Vuitton pattern, backlit onto lustrous white alabaster surfaces. To impart “the feel of a Gucci boutique,” Daniels incorporated rich materials like dark Wenge wood columns, lush Giallo Siena yellow marble, and dramatic black chandeliers set inside chrome drums. At the next-door nightclub Reign, “It’s all about voyeuristic, custom, metallic-leather VIP booths and highly reflective surfaces, chrome speakers and chrome columns, and a Zaha Hadid-inspired DJ booth that summon attention” says Daniels. The centerpiece is a black Cohiba granite bar – moody surface for the atmospheric streaming of videos. The media blitz continues above, where the ceiling is embedded with a super-size video screen. A high- tech Crylon fog system creates a synchronized haze that envelops the dance floor” The Atlantan
