The Brick
Documenting and keeping Wolfpack traditions
As the editor and sole designer for The Brick, a book for new students at N.C. State University to memorialize their college experience, I worked to create a brand for Student Government's new Tradition Keeper program. Ideally, students would complete, scrapbook-style, 40 or more of the 50 traditions in The Brick to earn a medal to wear at graduation. Each tradition in the book has an open spot for students to place a "memory." We wrote copy to define the traditions and their histories and paired them with file photos from the Agromeck yearbook and Technician student newspaper to show how other students completed the traditions.

Worked with Chandler Thompson, Andy Walsh and Sam Dennis, all members of Student Government, on this project.

This spread is about attending non-revenue sports. Each spread has an interactive element to count towards students' tradition keeping. This spread has a place for an autograph from an athlete. The info box offers a history of the ACC conference and their logos, as a way to teach readers about the rich athletic history of their new school. The left page offers both a visual glossary of all the Wolfpack teams as well as a showcase of student photography.
The North Carolina State Fair is a huge Raleigh attraction, and therefore a must-do for students whether they are fair-goers or volunteers. The interactive portion of this spread is a place to put a ticket and a place to record favorite memories. The spread is heightened by the photo, by Danielle Neujahr, of a student and her father riding the Vortex at the fair.
Greek Life is a large part of student life at N.C. State. This spread detailed all of the fraternities and sororities and offered a place for students to place a memento from one of their many events.
