Wondering what Trace Monotyping is? Also known as transfer drawing, Trace Monotyping is a direct-drawing printmaking technique. After inking a plate, paper is placed on top of the inky surface. Using a pen, stick or any other tool, the image is then drawn on the back of the paper. The pressure picks up a line of ink on the paper as the pen bears down and when the paper is peeled off the plate, whatever you traced appears on the paper
