My last mission consisted in intervening on a Swiss real estate site of announcements. They needed to clarify the account section of the site. I prepared a set of icons to illustrate the titles of each section. I show you below an extract then some unwound of the steps of creation. I start my icon design from simple forms (rectangle, circles) and I reuse them at leisure by respecting the proportions. I cut, unify, subtract : it is my favorite playground! I have then to deliver icons in a font-icon set so that they are joined on the web site.
Here you can see how i design a heart icon. Starting with a rounded rectangle. Duplicate it. Rotate it. Join them. Play with the border (inline, centered,...). Adjust the details aaaand *pop*, heartbeat.
There is some much way to design a simple heart. Show me your way in the comments ! I'm curious and this make me learn some other funny ways.
