MacGregor Tourney M85T Driver Product Design (2010)

MacGregor Tourney M85T (2010) Driver product development, cosmetic design, logo creation,
and creation of supporting technical art & logos.

The 2010 MacGregor Tourney M85T Driver was developed for Golfsmith International after the acquisition of the MacGregor Brand from the MacGregor Golf Company. This driver was developed to be the high end adjustable driver in the New MacGregor product launch.

After hand drawn sketches were created & reviewed (not shown), first vector sole layouts were created. Then initial prototype art layout with possible paint/finishes were applied. Before the art could be translated into a 3D form a flat vector map was created as a guide for the R&D clubmaker to make a first model. The model would be used by the factory to generate CADs and the Rosewood for review. The marked up Rosewood above shows minor edits that would be documented and communicated to the factory. Final art layout with the selected finishes is created.

Technical art support for this club was needed to show both the construction of the club as well as a how-to guide on how to use the adjustable hosel feature on the club. Designs for the technology Logos were created for the FaceFit Technology and the Cup Face 360º Technology. Also shown above is a technical drawing overlay used with the club photography which was featured on the cover of the FaceFit Technology supporting brochure.
