In ancient Greece, owls were often seen as a symbol of good fortune, the idea of the "wise old owl" may have come into being from the association of the little owl with the greek goddess of wisdom, Athena.
One of the Chinese names for owl is "Xiao" The Chinese character representing "Xiao" is used in expressions relating to ferocity and bravery, the birds are regarded as relentless yet clever.
In Poland, It was believed that owls did not come out during the day because they were so beautiful & would be mobbed by other birds out of jealousy.
In Romania, it is said that the souls of repentant sinners fly to heaven as Snowy owls.
Blakiston's Fish owl (Ketupa Blakistoni) is one of the most important gods of the native Ainu people of Hokkaidu in Japan, it is called "Kotan kor kamuy" which translates to the "God of the Village" or "God who defends the village".

Example of the card's back and displaying the different paper GSM on each one plus showing the tale of folklore on the front of the card to make the symmetrical collage relevent.
This is the outer box that has an inner sleeve that slides out which contains the cards, the idea being, this box and the cards could be sent to potential clients as an example of the new Sirio Ultra Black paper which could be kept in the office/studio as an exampe of the paper's qualities and a nice keep-sake item that fits neatly onto a shelf. The outer part to the box is using Fedrigonis 115 gsm textured paper which i have screenprinted onto with the textures of feathers, and the inner sleeve says "Sirio Santuary" which ties in with the idea of a place for the birds and the collection of different paper stocks.
