Branding: Morbid Curiosity Skateboard Co.

The goal for this project was to create a skateboard company based on the idea of "Mythology". For my approach, I chose to go in a different direction from the typical interpretation of Greek or Roman mythology, and branded my company on the idea of urban myths or legends. The assignment was to create a logo, and then skate decks with the 'theme' of the company in mind.

Here's an exerpt from my original assignment submission:

Why Morbid Curiosity?

The reason is simple. Skateboarders live in the land of “What if?” They take risks most individuals would be apprehensive to try. “Can I skate that steep handrail?” “Could I nail that trick and landing?” Urban legends are tales that employ that same “What if?” narrative. They are the stories that make up campfire tales for our target demographic. How many grisly tales of lost limbs, or revenge seeking ghosts did you hear growing up? These urban myths are the tales that teenage boys tell to show impress their friends, and make the girls think that they are fearless. “I’ll flash my headlights... I’ll call out to Bloody Mary....”

Will you?
