New York Punk
Some type of sub-title
While the Punk Scene conjures up images of violence and hopelessness, Verdi's photos reveal love, be it lost or found, and we soon forget the stereotypes and find people searching for a way to live.

These black and white prints show a couple on a motorcycle, a threesome at a bar, a young gir
l in her room, and sever portraits against graffitti sprayed walls, and each is a close-up of humanity and reach beyond the Sex Pistols cliches.

Upon entering the punk rocker hangout called CBGB's on New York City's lower east side, you enter a world unto itself. The nights are late. The music is deafening. The lyrics are defiant. The air is electric.

Those who hung out at CBGB's every night, desperately needed to belong. They put up barriers to the nine to five world. Their ripped clothes, body piercings and loud vulgar music helped keep the world at bay.

The following photographs attempt to break down those barriers and tell their story. Throughout a journey of images, you will find not only what makes us different, but what makes us the same.
