Create a new print magazine to highlight the best features, writing and photojournalism from MiCT's (Media in Cooperation and Transition's) online news and training platform, afghanistan-today.org.
From their bases in 20 Afghan and Pakistani provinces, Afghanistan Today journalists face daily threats to bring fresh, untold stories from remote communities.
All photos and stories are AT originals, and provide unique insight into a region that is often in the news, but not often understood. For many of the journalists, the magazine was the first time they saw their work in print. Whiile some of the photography was contributed by photojournalists, many stories were illustrated by the journalists using basic, low-resolution digital cameras.
This posed a design challenge: representing the work of all the journalists only with the images available.
