For color, I used Pantone 332 U.
Design Army approached me because they liked the illustrations that I did in this style a few years ago about the city of Portland. If you're wondering if it felt awesome to be approached by someone and the inspiation imagery is something that you did yourself, the answer is: Yes. Yes, it felt very awesome.
I had to take a few liberties to fit the metro area into seven distinct sections. So if you know Atlanta well and you're thinking "Hey, Radial Cafe and Gato are really more in Candler Park than in Little 5 Points" – yeah, I know. Be gentle, Oh Devoted Fact-Checking Warrior and Defender of All Things Local.
Also, not every great neighborhood could fit. West End's hot wings stands and Inman Park's Barcelona wine bar should be on the list – but there's just only so many days in the week. And, for what it's worth: I finished the illustrations before Le Fat opened on the Westside – otherwise the Westside's map might be just a series of huge arrows pointing to Le Fat, saying "Don't ask questions; just go here and get the dumplings and salted caramel chocolate cake."
Come visit Atlanta! Just maybe make sure to get plenty of exercise during your stay – and perhaps opt for a salad at a few of these joints.
