Split Redwood Coffee Table
With Black Steel Base
Redwood will always be one of my favorite woods to work with. My colleague found this piece ‑ and amazed at how unique the perfect split was ‑ saved it from the chipper. After years of drying in the back corner of the lot, this rotten looking big block of wood turned out to shine like nothing I’ve ever seen. This redwood slab is from a storm fallen tree from Northern Washington. It has a variety of beauty, from the rich black knots on the side, the iridescent greens and reds on the top, and of course, the “split”. This piece of redwood has so much to offer that I thought a simple square tube base with a would allow the wood to shine as if it was on a pedestal.
