Sazerac is a new bar in Tallinn and they needed a logo and traditional style signs in their windows in two languages – English & Estonian. The style of the logo is based on research done on Louisiana French style lettering, and Italian enrgraving. The lettering for 'Bar & Kitchen' and 'Baar & Köök' is custom drawn from a typeface I developed last year - Livo Display.
The window sign was hand-painted with Sericol PS, 1-Shot and gilded with gold leaf from dating from the late 19th century, produced by Hastings & Co.

The 19th centry gold leaf was thinner than the contemporary leaf I've worked with before.

Lettering painted in with Sericol PS. Sericol PS is a screen printing ink especially for metals and glass. It is very durable and dries quickly.
When the excess gold leaf is removed from around the lettering, it maintains its shape and does not chip or abrade.
