I was born in Seoul, and have lived in the city for almost all of my life. Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is such a dynamic and colorful city full of exotic attractions and cultures, and because of its extraordinary history, it has become the city of old and new.
In Seoul, one can experience both extremely traditional and modern aspects even in a very short period of time. This unique quality of Seoul is clearly visible in other areas as well. To me, Seoul is a truly unique city where traditional and modern elements coexist, displaying such beautiful contrast and harmony.
In this book, I visually illustrate and narrate the historical and cultural aspects in order to demonstrate how unique the city is. I want the audience to get a sense of not only how Seoul has come this far from the poorest city to one of the richest megacities in the world, but also how Seoul has become an extremely unique metropolis.
