I love to read when I have the time. And I prefer an actual paper book. There's just something about the sound and feel of turning the pages. I've read all of the Robert Langdon books by Dan Brown. When I finished Inferno, I had this idea for a personal project poster.

 

The style of illustration used on Tom Hanks is a bit new for me, trying different things. I did a sketch and rough blocking in Photoshop and finished it in Illustrator with a specially created 'inking' brush. I also wanted to continue refining my hand lettering skills with the nine rings of hell. The shadow of the 'plague doctor' figures heavily in the book as well as the city of Florence, represented by the skyline at the top of the poster.
