These are process pictures of the dimensional birch trees for Magic Flute at Glimmerglass Festival 2015. We started with a base of steel and insulation foam. We covered the foam base with Jaxsan and strips of Ramboard to recreate the paper like  texture of birch trees. We then added sponged and brushed washes of greys, browns, blacks and silver paints to create the finished product of realistic looking birch tree set pieces.
