This master project presents a solution for the growing problem of E-waste through a new design strategy for the development of products. The essence of the strategy is tested trough a coffeemaker as a case study.
In a world that is driven by consumption, people tend to replace their goods at an accelerating paste. We do not replace our products only because they break, but because we grow tired of them even faster.
In the race for newer, bigger, faster, brighter we have lost attachment with our objects. Products of today are becoming obsolete even faster than the lifespan of the parts they are made of.
KASVANI is a system that is created to reinforce this attachment. It contains specific design-guidelines that result in products that are more transparent and that go back to the essence of the function it presents. Because of this, individual parts can be replaced and the product is able to grow along with the fast changing needs of the consumer.
