Coronation portrait

Just inside the entrance to Room 2 of the National Portrait Gallery, London, hangs a portrait of breathtaking detail of a porcelain skinned girl with piercing eyes.

The coronation portrait of Queen Elizabeth I is smaller than you might expect, and the excessively ornate frame in which it is set cannot compare to the stunning beauty of this painting.

This is my take on that painting.

The original "Cororation Portrait" was painted in 1559 but subsequently lost.  It was repainted circa 1660 by an unknown artist.  Originally housed in the Great Hall at Warwick Castle, it how hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
