This project represents the chemically driven food industry of today. There are more than 3,000 chemicals being purposely added to our food supply. 90% of Americans spend their food budget on processed foods. If people know processed foods are bad for them, how do you get them to actually care and make a change? I decided to put the food in front of people but with the identity of their chemical components, not as what we normally recognize them to be. Guests can pull the tabs below the test tubes of the food and read what chemical is in the food and why it is harmful to us. Wanting people to make a change, I also mentioned the alternatives and posed the question, will you still buy convenience now that you know the alternatives?
