Glacier St. Mary's Lake (2016)
Sold in Auction for $1700 at Jefferson Elementary Art Gala
In the Spring of 2016, I was contracted by Jefferson Elementary School to help create artworks for their annual Gala event in return for a flat fee payment.  I worked with 5th grade, 4th grade, and 2nd grade to teach artwork to the students and supervise them as we collaborated to create a giant class artwork project for each respective grade I was assigned.  This was a piece done in 5th grade, all in watercolor.  I drew the original image and then each kid got to take a turn painting on the artwork while I supervised and assisted them by showing what color goes where and what brush techniques to use.
This shows from start to finish how the kids added bits of color little by little, till we got the finishing piece.
Yellowstone Lower Falls (2016)
Sold in Auction for $700 at Jefferson Elementary Art Gala
Here is another 5th grade watercolor piece I did with the kids at Jefferson Elementary.  Just like with the Glacier painting, I had to take 1 kid at a time, and help show where each color goes on the painting and what brush techniques should be used.  The line-art of the painting was drawn by me, and the children of 5th grade water-colored the painting under my supervision.
Here's a longer example of the progress it took to finish the Yellowstone picture with the kids.
Rain-forest Acrylic Painting (2016)
Sold in Auction for $325 at Jefferson Elementary Art Gala
This is a 2nd Grade piece that was based on the classroom's learning theme of the year, the Rain-forest.  This was painted on a canvas and I originally painted the line-art onto the canvas, then I'd supervise the children to help color in parts and pieces of the canvas like a giant coloring book.
Mt. Helena and Sleeping Giant Mosaic (2016)
These are two 4th grade Mosaic pieces that were made out of cut glass pieces, wood, and mortar.  The line-art of the mountains would be drawn onto the wood using a sharpie pen, then I'd take 1 kid at a time to take the small pieces of glass I'd cut and try to fit them into certain areas I marked for them like a geometric puzzle.

Trouts Unlimited Sign and Gala Rainbow Trout (2016)
The two fish were made by the 5th graders at Jefferson Elementary and I supervised each child that came up to add their special touch to the rainbow trouts.  I picked out the acrylic paint the kids would use to paint the fish with and directed where to put the colors and what brushes to use.  The one on the left was sold to Trouts Unlimited for $535 and the one on the right was sold for auction in the Gala for $180.
Manor Commission (2015)
One of my clients contacted me, wanting a digital painting of an old Victorian manor for their story.  I created a building using the desired specifications for the structure while adding a few creative touches.  This was the first digital drawing I've ever done entirely on the computer, including the initial line-art.  The progress for this can be seen below the picture.  The signature, Rozen-Guarde, is my pen name that I use for my Deviant Art webpage, which is where I was originally contacted.
Nagoya Menu (2014)
At one of my previous jobs, I was approached by the owner of Nagoya and asked to design the wine and beer menu for the new restaurant that was being built.  After sitting with the client and doing some brief initial sketches, the decision was made to have a green bamboo theme that would be printed on Ivory card stock.  The client didn't make a decision about the font, but as long as the customers could read the menu, anything was OK.  So, using what I know about graphic design and typography, I chose a font that's close to the original font of the business logo.  The client was very pleased with the result.
Arielle and Chip's wedding (2011)
I created this for my friend on her wedding day as a wedding gift to immortalize this joyous moment in life.  After completing the picture using just pencil, Q-tips, and tissues for shading, I framed it and gave it to them.  If you look at the picture upside down from where the date is, it spells out my initials MGL with the numbers that were shaded in.  I used that as a substitute for my signature since I had trouble trying to find a place to put the signature without ruining the artwork.
Here's a side by side comparison of the couple and the image I drew on 2011.
