Photography | Beauty in Space

A series of photography for my Final Year Project, Beauty in Space. The photographs are categorised in 3 groups: Space created by Object, Space created by Surroundings, and Space created by Light and Shadow.
 01  Space created by Object

This series of visuals explore the space created by the physicality of the object. The structure and form of the object create a boundary
that sets the space, the space around and in an object.

E.g. A vessel makes a statement about the difference between the interior space and exterior space by showing us the physical
boundary that it creates. The plant materials occupy the constrained space by positioning themselves in a way that creates composition with the space provided.

02  Space created by Surroundings

The structures and forms from the surrounding architecture that we see in our daily lives contribute to the framing and structuring
of space. From beams to pillars and to windows, all of them interact to create space.

Some of the framing of space is created through layering of different structures at different spatial depth, hence visually when view
from an angle, they create a framed visual space for plant materials to reside and bring life to it.

03  Space created by Light and Shadow

Light and shadow are intangible in nature but visually they command strong presence. This series of visuals explores the projection of light and shadow to frame and create space that form part of the composition.

Physically the space created is empty but visually it is not an empty space. The idea of intangible caused by the tangible, and immaterial through material. The source of the intangible space framed by the light and shadow must be created by a tangible physical source.
