Project development starting from the analysis of a natural shape.
Functional objects often don’t give importance to the aesthetic aspect of life. They are simply projected in order to be useful, but not to fulfill user’s sight. That’s why the project of my Survival Kit considers and develops the “form”: graphically, aesthetically and by the use of unusual materials in this field.
INTRODUCTION
The Kit is a result of the modern need to get back to real nature. Nowadays, surviving is a not-so-necessary question because everything society offers to us is ready and waiting to be consumed. The Kit helps people apply to accomplish by themselves all the goals required to survive far from modern society and lifestyle, which everyday give us all the (un)necessary comforts.The idea is to refound ourselves and our society in a new way, released from ultramodern principles.
Even if the Kit’s components are industrial products, the aim of my project is to hypothetically make people apply their creativity using the objects in the most varied situations, giving them new features and taking them far from the exclusive use for which they have been proposed, counteracting the typically modern consumerism of goods.
AESTHETIC
The packaging is a whole natural bamboo piece - ductile, waterproof material, even suitable to be transported without breaking or deforming. The instruments on the inside are placed in a suede multi-pocket sheath. This velvety suede, pleasant to the touch, creates an interesting contrast with the smoothy bamboo.
Another fundamental contrast is the one between the natural origin of the materials and the modernity of the logos and the illustrations.
The result is a deeply-studied utility product, thought to be inseparable from its graphic part, strongly connected with the aesthetic experience.
