Type on screen has become one of the most important issues of type design today. But still the representation of many vectorbased printer fonts on screen is insufficient, especially in small fontsizes. The problem is based on the fact that it is necessary to simplify the “free” vector forms into the restricted shape of a pixel matrix: A process within the particular characteristic of many fonts gets lost. That is why I decided to reverse the design process and to start with a pixel font. On this basis I designed a family of four postscript fonts and eleven screenfonts including a special typeface with current icons and symbols used in the world wide web.
