Yoke aims to improve relationships between the generations. Research has shown that, with a widening generation gap,  younger and older generations are communicating less. The word ‘Yoke’ means to create a bond, connection or form a relationship and the brand is a collaboration between two charities, Age UK and UK Youth.

Both generations are targeted via installations at bus stops. The installations mix up the language of both generations to create pieces that will start a conversation – emoti-crochet, cross-stich tech talk and revised road signs all aim to create an initial spark between the generations.

The call to action uses an interactive bus stop display and asks people if they want to be part of the ‘communication generation’. People waiting at bus stops are invited to grab a buddy and play a quick game of Pong. As the game needs two players it encourages strangers to play it together.

Yoke culminates in a free, monthly, local newspaper, picked up at bus stops. The paper can be flipped, with each side targeting either generation. It includes a how-to guide, a meet the locals section, as well as an events page in the centre spread which can be used as a calendar
