Knight's Move provides a twist on the classic game of chess. In the game, you control the knight and the objective is to navigate around the board to get to the exit. The game contains over 190 puzzles spread across three different chess boards. There is also a multiplayer mode where you must capture squares to trap your opponent and win. This game was made and released as our first commercial project at Stealforge and is based off my previous idea, listed in my portfolio as "Chess Game"
My main role was as the programmer. I was responsible for all aspects of the game including gameplay, user interface and integration with external APIs such as the Google Play Services (for leaderboards, achievments and multiplayer) & SOOMLA (for managing in-app purchases). Additionally, I also had to work on creating editor tools within Unity3D for our level designers so that they could implement the puzzles.
My other role was as the modeller. Since we did not have any artists, I decided to spend some time learning Blender and ultmately ended up modelling the chess peices, boards and other assets required for the game. Having made the models, I also made all the promotiomal art, which was a combination of renders and Photoshop, as well as the prerendered footage for the trailers. Below are some of the models I made and rendered.
In multiplayer mode, you and your rival must work to capture squares and trap the other player on the board. Strategy, patience, and a well-timed boost will ensure your victory.
