2015 Giving Website, University of Washington

I led an interdepartmental working group focused on improving the university's online giving website (uw.edu/giving). Previous to my work, the giving function of the website had been fused with the University's Foundation website, which many site users found confusing. I led focus groups with internal site stakeholders, donors and volunteers over a period of several months to help determine what site upgrades were both needed and desired. I then brought together a small group of department representatives from Annual Giving, University Marketing & Communications, Donor Services, and the UW Advancement Strategic Technology Initiative to decide on and implement specific changes. We used a combination of user-testing, anecdotal feedback and university priorities (both brand priorities and donor campaign priorities) to help guide us toward the improvements we put in place. The end result is a site that is much easier to understand and use, is strongly in line with university branding and campaign priorities and is aesthetically pleasing.
