Initial thumbnail sketch on the back of an envelope. My working process for thumbnails when I am producing my own illustration is to make lots of little ugly simple thumbs like this. I'm not thinking about the detail finish so much, but mulling over the general weighting and mass of the shapes, the stance of the vehicle, the best perspective. Since an off road vehicle at an eye-level perspective is about 50% tires and suspension, there's not a whole lot of work that needs to be done to complete the body. Bypassing a scanner and simply shooting the thumb with my phone and e-mailing it to my PC is a quick method I learned from Christian Pearce.
