The Tweeting Pothole / MEDCOM

Panama City streets are damaged. This inconvenience causes a lot of discomfort to drivers who have to transit through these streets everyday.

Telemetro Reporta, the most influential news program in Panama, decided to display the drivers thoughts directly to those responsible of streets maintenance. 

We installed a device inside the potholes of the most damaged streets in the city that tweets a complaint every time it is stepped by a car to the twitter account of the Department of Public Works (@MOPdePanama). A special segment was created in our news show to present the complaints and made others aware as well. People started interacting with the tweeting pothole, share their experiences for public exposure on twitter and tv  

Every street where the device was placed has been repaired or is in the process, many of which are long stretches that had been neglected for years considerably increasing the percent of attended cases.
