Process of 'fff' [Research 03 & Material experiment]

Some initial ideas for this project.
I thought about the touch that makes people smile.
I researched good touch fabric and I found the rich and soft fabric tend to be used things to be touched on people's skin and lay down on, such as coat, jacket and hat in fashion, pillow and throw  in bedding and sofa cover and cushion in living etc.

I researched about faux fur’s information and history.
How fake fur is made

I compared soft wool, towel and faux fur, and I found faux fur is the best touch. Therefor, I got faux fur and tried some material test.
I sewed the faux fur and made soft sticks that were no born and in born.
Also dyed the fabric because faux fur takes any colour. However, Dyeing colour was for cotton, and 'the fur fibres are 100% Acrylic or Modacrylic on a 100% polyster base' (http://www.fauxthrow.com/faq.php). The colour of dyed fabric became weak.

Then I made hand sized balls of the faux fur. I researched how to make a ball, and I employed a pattern of globe making. The pattern for globe making needs six fabric pieces shaped like a leaf. Having drawn the pattern with Illustrator and printed and cut it out, then drew the shape using the pattern on the backside of faux fur fabric. I cut and sew the six pieces of fabric by hand sawing keeping a hole for wadding, and had it in side out, then put some wadding in it. Finally, close the hole. Done.
