The Brush is where it all starts for Eastern Calligraphy. I have used both the pointed brush and the broad-edged brush equally. The pointed brush is generally associated with freedom, the broad-edge brush, more tradional forms, although these are very general classifications. I put them all under the heading of "Brush Sensibilities" in my Book "Scribe", which also includes a hybrid section between the two main headings of pointed and broad. Here is a small sampling.
