Metro Array Series [0x00 : 0x11]

"Metro Array"
Created May 14th, 2015. Adobe After Effects.

The Metro Array Series is an exploration of what the result is when attempting to create a digital painting using completely roundabout software methods. For this project: The artist has created a script for Adobe After Effects that creates a 5-second video clip at 30 frames per second out of an existing image file, then applies several effect filters on the video, rendering out 11 semi-random select points in time as 5000px by 5000px still frames. This online exhibition is that of the original photo that acts as the seed, along with 11 frames that the program generated from it. This provides a total of 12 images, out of a possible 151 frames. (including the original image)

This collaboration between man and machine shows that when in want of art being created, the artist will use whatever is necessary to create his work and his tool will respond in the same kind of inventiveness. The artifice of the home computer is put to work as an engine of creation working partially via its own volition, but allowing input by the user to dramatically influence the final outcome of each ever-changing frame.
Prints are available via Redbubble and Society6!
