Mister K
by Julia Sysmäläinen
OpenType features turn Mister K into a game. When typesetting, the user is surprized how the words continuously change their form, often not at all as expected. – Mister K lives his own life.
The core family of Mister K consists of FF Mister Regular, FF Mister K Onstage and FF Mister K Crossout. While the Regular quite closely follows Kafka’s vivacious writing style in the manuscripts for his novel “The Trial”, Onstage stresses the more calligraphic letterforms that can be found in the writer’s notebooks. Crossout, finally, contains the whole character set heavily crossed out – a style typical for Kafka when he struggled to bring his thoughts on paper.
The Mister K Family supports a wide range of languages – the Regular even “Extended Cyrillic”. Mister K Regular received a Certificate of Typographic Excellence at the Moscow Modern Cyrillic Competition and an ISTD Premier Award in London.
