The Chagrining of Bonny Billy William

"It had happened with a sudden slip off of a mud-wet vine on the edge of the marshy muck. Billy William (or Bonny Billy William as he oft like to be called) was on his way to market for a few things needed for evening supper. A week prior his wife, Mrs. William had sewn him a lovely new velvet waistcoat. Suffice to say Bonny Billy took every opportunity to admire his reflection in every window and stream he could find. The toad was a bit vain and easily distracted and found himself off his path on the edges of the Marsh, (which straddles both the Hiccuboro and Iron Pot valleys).
With pipe in hand he preened into the water and lost his footing and with a thick “Splop”, found himself in the thick muck with his lovely waistcoat badly soiled.

Unbeknownst to him though, peering out behind a gnarled tree a dark figure spied him, and slowly crept closer, and William distracted was none the wiser…."
