Bitcoins.com was designed as an introduction to the digital currency for complete beginners. At the time of its launch, Bitcoin was perceived as illegal, untrustworthy and too complex to be understood by normal humans. The original brief was for a "complete user's guide to Bitcoin", but we instead focused on the idea of "your smart friend explaining the concept to you". Clear graphics to help visualise the concepts and technologies, non-technical language, a simple brand, responsive site and animated video were all created in service of that idea. We also named, designed and built a UI prototype for a simple Japanese language bitcoin wallet – Bitpocket – in the same brand style to be launched as a companion to the Bitcoins.com site. The concept was for it to be a simple way to send & receive bitcoin with your friends. There was also an ATM deposit system for converting your yen into BTC. Illustration by Marty Cook. Animation by Wedovideo, Tokyo. Read Less
