Furniture Inspired By Nature
A Table And A Rug By Michael Knap
The project is based on the idea of developing a table and a rug which both works individually but also work together as a family.
The project draws its inspiration from big iceshelfs who breaks of the north pole and then float around in the deep blue sea.

The design of the table is trying to capture the same feeling which those Masivet giants have, though still with a view to making the table light to look at visually.
The table is made of Corian which makes it both feel and the look like characteristics of a cold piece of ice.

The rug draws references from the dark blue sea, which creates a frame in which the table can stand. The rug is produced in a technical filter that makes it possible to create a pattern that speaks with the table. The pattern is created with pockets in the felt where a softer material is within. This gives the short-hairt felt a very soft surface to walk and touch, but simultaneously seems simple
