When invisible waves interfere with a visible light, strange things start to occur...
Interference is an experimental - artistic project in which I've been exploring Cinema 4D's fields system, volume builder, volume mesher as well as building shaders inside Cycles 4D engine. Also I used X-Particles in a few shots.
The tricky part here was to drive the opacity of the insects shells by the inner geometry. It was achieved using a Vertex Color Tag with 'Fields" option. Of course vertex tag requires a very dense mesh to look nice. So the challenge here was to find the balance between a polycount manageable by my computer and smooth edges of vertex color maps.
This project gave me a lot of fun with fields and shaders built in cycles 4D which is very flexible in terms of using totally different UV coordinates inside one material.
