HOLMESTRAND BIBLIOTEK
So my town was getting a new library, and saw an opportunity to create what that would be my first branding projects, the process of designing a new building was completed not to long after, and I stuck to the graphic. Even though it's only a concept for now, I've gotten great review and feedback on the project, even from some of the employees of the old library,
Over the years I've gotten an unhealthy relationship with the world "culture", to me it stands as the main inspiration for every project over the country, and I got sick of it and turned my inspiration to the nature. In 2015 we're harming our nature every day, and could at least try to bring the nature back to the picture. My city, Holmestrand is a pure combination of the wild wilderness and the hard asphalt., but even so our city is build and wrapped around the nature. A new (and first) logo for the library would need to sit, and so i tried. The sea that is enclosing our harbor, the trees that sways in the wind, and our might Holmestrand mountain that rises to the sky, these were the inspiration for the essentials of a new library, moving away from culture and into the nature, as long as we have it.
I wanted the logo to represent three different things all-together, I you look at the logo as the sea, you'll find waves in different sizes, if you look at it as the forest, you'll see the tree line moving in different paths and ways, if you look at it as the mountains, you'll see mountains in different shapes and heights. If you look dimensions you can see they all start on a flat ground, as we all do, starting at the bottom, but eventually grows. All this together is the "Kite" as I have named the logo, I also count this logo to be my closest and personal.
