Thirty new friends made small beginnings on Friday, September 26, 2014 in Austin, Texas to honor the revolutionary civil rights activist Grace Lee Boggs, who had just entered hospice care in Detroit. We laughed, embraced, danced, cried, wrote, ate, and talked about local politics, climate change, social justice in Austin, civil rights over the past century, grassroots organizing, cultivating hope, small acts of courage, and the responsibility of dedicating oneself to a struggle. We ended the night by writing letters to Grace, and sharing experiences of how her work had touched our lives. Thank you to those who shared in the food and fellowship: Patty, Brad, Sean, Heath, Becky, Arturo, Charlotte, Gerardo, Dani, Elizabeth, Sari, Josh, Curran, PJ, Isabel, Olivia, Kimberly, T-Kay, Lilia, Kymberlie, Krishnan, Monique, Colin, Gloria, Tony, Jorge, Dave, Jose, and John.
