Michael Keefe Gorman's profile

Which Season to Visit Chile

Formerly featured on Barron's Magazine’s list of Top 100 Advisors, Keefe Gorman serves as a managing director of investments at Merrill Lynch. Having skied professionally on the U.S. Pro Ski Tour and the U.S. Pro Mogul Tour, Keefe Gorman enjoys visiting the Andes Mountains in Chile for the world-class skiing offered there when he is not in the office at Merrill Lynch.

According to travel websites, many non-skiing tourists enjoy visiting Chilean Patagonia from November to early March, which is summer in the southern hemisphere. While crowds can be thick, the weather during this time of year is ideal for exploring such national attractions as Torres del Paine National Park and Tierra del Fuego.

Alternatively, spring months (September, October, and November) come with many colorful blooms while tourists can enjoy autumnal hues in March, April, and May. In winter (between June and August), skiing is at its height in the Andes, but many other Chilean cultural attractions are closed. No matter when you go, keep yourself protected from Patagonia's chilly year-round winds by packing warm clothing.
