Anti-Logo : Qatar World Cup 2022

FIFA was heavily criticized for deciding that the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar, a country that has a red-hot climate and lacks the infrastructure to host such a large event.
But far worse criticism was to follow.

More than 900 workers have died in the construction projects for the competition, and some have estimated this figure to be rise to at least 4,000 by the time the buildings are finished.

Furthermore, the country has faced allegations of condemning migrant workers to slavery through the ‘Kafala system’, which lets workers’ in-country sponsors – usually their employers – confiscate their passports upon entry to the country and then make it difficult for them to leave.

Creative detractors have taken to sharing ‘anti-logos’ of major of sponsors of the World Cup in a bid to encourage them to withdraw their backing.
I was one of these internet users, being a designer I chose the M from Mcdonald's Logo to create a lock, symbolic of the oppression and abuse the laborers in Qatar are facing on an everyday basis. Our intention here is not to defame these much-loved brands but to show them a mirror of what actually is going down in Qatar, which by sponsoring the World Cup they are becoming involuntary partners in.

These are some of the websites where the work has been featured.
