Materializing No.2 (2015)

Two Monitor Speakers, Projection with Filters, Pure Data Program, Google Form Submission
Digital objects exists in a non-physical - or rather, non-tangible - realm. Materializing No. 2 is an audio-visual installation which aims to give a material form to digital interaction and networking. Two speakers face one another and each projects different sounds according to the data which can be submitted live through google form; this can virtually be done by anyone across the globe (the website to the submission is tinyurl.com/materializing-2). The composition to the piece is created by snythesizing each letter in the submission into soundwave of different shape, harmonic, and frequency. Subsequently, the two longitudinal waves meet in space in the mid-point between the two speakers and this becomes the materialization of the data. The visual projection is a representation of the collision point between the two waves, and the shape is a result of a real-time extrapolation of the resulting sound.

Below is the video of the installation.
