This project was created in my experimental typography class. The directions were to make a typeface or icon set and we could do anything that we wanted. I decided to make a fun set of type based on something that I really love, pop culture. I researched numerous ideas, but the one that I decided to take further was the famous hair of celebrities. 

I started by finding the most famous hairstyles of celebrities, both past and present, and chose one celebrity for each letter of the alphabet. When I had my 26 celebrities and their famous hair-do’s, I drew the hair of each celebrity and scanned them into Photoshop. From there I made each drawing a duotone. I then found an existing typeface fitting the personality or style of each celebrity. I then paired up the hair and the font on a 20”x40” poster featuring the classic barber pole.
