Every now and then a brand needs an update, even Adobe.
My vision was to clear out the old and bring in the new. Not long ago the "Simple & Basic" was brought back to the table. Refreshing these icons could be a chance to include them in to this era. But to redesign icons to a brand as big as this, it would need a certain set of style and feel, it would need to stand out from the generic.
My ideas were many, but all together they had a common thought; the new icons would need to stand out, look tempting, attractive and fun, but still grown up. Simplicity had never been more important.
Accomplished? That's up for you to decide.
The old icons used vague dark colours, gradients, shadows and a complicated font.
The new icons uses bright clear hi-contrast colours, drop shadows and a clear and distinctive font.
Every icon would use their iconic distinctive colour, or represented with a new one, as close to the original as possible.
To differentiate the "Edge" series from the originals, the frame and text is presented in black, not white, the drop shadow is also gone.
