Composing an approach based on a central idea in order to accomplish an unknown goal. Initially, using the idea of displacing public space in order to create a unique circulation was the goal. Keeping it general, carving voids into a solid with shapes extracted from a previous assignment determined the location and configuration of each space.
The pivotal moment of this process came early. In an attempted to further understand this concept, drafting an overlay abstracting the spaces was performed. After placing silhouettes into the section, the 2 dimensional cone of vision was drawn. Each inhabitant was given a number of cones until a sufficient amount of intersections were born.
Using intersections to determine which moments in the existing space were most public and most private, i applied a final layer of abstracting the orthogonal spaces based on the extents of the cones was the first step in taking an unnatural approach to determining space, the exte of, an the quality of the space.
Moving forward with cones of vision determining space, I exercised a number of processes.
Literal carving by cones was explored quickly, and ruled out. Cones had to be understood in a 3-dimensional format in order to grasp its relation to space.
Midway through the process, an approach where inhabitants existed before the structure became the frontrunner. The views of each inhabitant dictated the space, and a simplification of geometries was used in order to confine each space accordingly.
In order to hybridize and allow this approach to coexist, I extracted the strongest moment, where public space is determined by the intersecting of cones. Using this to dictate form and location of public space allowed for the corresponding approach to accomplish and coexist. Further studies of the cones are located in my final Publicizing the View project.
