Luke Alford Web Dev. Branding
Luke Alford is a freelance web developer, pro beard grower and all round awesome guy. Luke introduced me to the world of design and more importantly vectors, I was quite taken back when he asked me to re design his web dev. branding for his new portfolio site.
The 'LA' Problem
Originally luke had asked for a monogram but we come accross a problem, the most common solution and the only one that really works for a centrally focused composition is the classic Los Angeles branding where beak of 'L' meats the cross bar of the 'A'. In order to stray away from the Los Angeles association, I decided to use the '/' to break them up, a universal symbol for coding or web dev. I replaced the traditional A with a triangle, just to make the logo feel more like an icon than a logotype.
Luke's always used odd shapes in his branding and it was something I wanted to reference and a challenge I set upon myself to incorperate into a possible solution. I felt the hexagon worked with the straight line aesthetic of the rest of the logo and is a shape the client is fond of.
