Variable light is a media installation project in which a series of Arduinos are programmed to sense light and create sound according to the light's intensity. This installation concept arrived from the idea of thinking about giving the space a tool in which it could act upon itself. With minor aesthetic intervention upon the space, it is able to retain it's character while using its pre-determined variables in a new way. The natural light coming through the skylight within the space, becomes the source of atmospheric sound when interpreted by the Arduinos. The installation is constructed so that the soundscape is responsive (in terms of light) to weather conditions, time of day and artificial and natural light within the space.
