Learn to Fly - Illustration Series

“Learn to Fly” is part of my final graduation project in the Graphic Design area, which I concluded at the University of São Paulo - Unesp. The project is based on the cyclic journey theory, the Monomyth, present in Joseph Campbell‘s book "The Hero with a Thousand Faces", relating to my four years and a half journey in another city.
The cycle begins with the doubts about the course choice and university, followed by some of my experiences far from home, and finally the return to my hometown.
Through colors, textures and various forms I created illustrations that had the intention of representing the highest number of sensations and feelings in each of the stages of this cycle. Their meanings are personal, however, the observer is invited to interpret them in their own way.
The series consists of 12 illustrations (named as the cycle below) and divided into Departure, Initiation I, Initiation II and Return.
1. Ordinary World
2. Call to Adventure
3. Refusal of the Call
4. Meeting the Mentor

5. Crossing the Threshold
6. The Road of Trials
7. Approach
8. Ordeal
(remake inspired by Zac Retz art)
9. Reward
10. The Road Back
11. Resurrection
12. Resolution
